A series of inspirational guest chef, winemaker’s dinners as well as sporting events are offered for your enjoyment over the months to come, and our legendary log fires will be blazing throughout. We are pleased to announce details of our annual presentation of 2010 events at Huka Lodge. These coincide with our most favourable mid-season rates and most events (with the exception of the golf tournament, partridge and pheasant shoot and the two luncheon events) are presented at no additional cost, beyond our tariff.

Sydney’s Pier restaurant sends Grant King to re-create his finest dishes at Huka Lodge.

When our Food & Beverage Manager Katrina Webb returned from a recent trip to Sydney singing the praises of the food at Pier, we decided to invite Grant King to create some of his current signature dishes for your pleasure.

New Zealand-born Grant King is Executive Chef at Pier and his talents have been instrumental in Pier acquiring Three Chefs Hats in the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide since 2006. Pier regularly attracts acclaim and more than its share of awards too. To share some of their current seafood favourites, for one New Zealand culinary event only, we present a Pier five-course dinner.

Mike and Claudia Weersing will host this event and proudly share with you their gorgeous artisan biodynamic wines from Pyramid Valley, near Waikari, North Canterbury.

Pyramid Valley wines deliberately stand apart from the increasing homogeneity encountered amongst local wines. You will discover Semillon in a full-bodied white Graves style, Riesling that is vibrant and Germanic in taste, delicate Pinot Blanc and the unique flavour of old-vine Gewürztraminer.

Our Executive Chef and his team will create a unique five-course menu to accompany these outstanding Pyramid Valley Wines.

CatWalk has been given the use of Huka Lodge, all its staff and all amenities, at absolutely no charge, to create an amazing fund raising event.

Guests will have the opportunity to mix and mingle as well as enjoy a range of outdoor pursuits with restaurateurs and television presenters Steve Logan and Al Brown. Action-packed with opportunity for in-room massages, hair and beauty workshop with celebrity stylists and entrepreneurs Stephen Marr & Lucy Vincent-Marr and an opportunity to spend time with artist Dick Frizzell – as he talks about art and wine. Winemaker Rob McDonald will also conduct a tasting of Frizzell wines. All these unique activities ensure this will be a fabulous treat for all guests.

A mystery VIP guest will also add to all the excitement, along with incredible food, wines and entertainment. Tariff: $6,000.00 per couple.

Luncheon parade of exclusive jewellery to be held at Huka Lodge.

Since its establishment in 1858, Fairfax & Roberts Jewellers have represented the highest standards of artisan craftsmanship for couture jewellery.

Anne Wragby, Sales Director of Fairfax & Roberts, has drawn together a selection of superb jewellery from their Martin Place showrooms to display for the pleasure of our guests.

Unique pieces from the Fairfax & Roberts couture collections, will be complemented by jewellery from Buccellati in Italy. This recent addition to the Fairfax & Roberts’ stable was discovered by Anne while travelling in Capri. Buccellati was founded in 1750 and every design has been an original as sketched by one of the Buccellati family – nobody outside the lineage has ever designed a piece of their jewellery. The end result is divine and will be shown in New Zealand for the first time at this event.

During luncheon, the jewellery will be modelled informally, giving ample opportunity to appreciate its beauty, by models who will be wearing beautiful dresses created especially by New Zealand fashion designer Liz Mitchell, for this glamorous occasion.

Three-course lunch, including Huka Lodge house wines is $125.00 + gst per person. This event is complimentary for guests staying at Huka Lodge on 18 September 2010.
