Every year we present a programme of events featuring an irresistible offering of unique special occasions, to be presented here at Huka Lodge.
Our blazing log fires and our reputation for spoiling you are both legendary – so we do look forward to welcoming you to share our beautiful property over the autumn-winter season 2013. Gourmet food, fine wines, candlelight and rich ambiance, along with some of the most romantic dining venues imaginable – await your arrival.

CHURCH ROAD WINEMAKERS DINNER AT HUKA LODGE

For guests staying at Taupo’s undeniably beautiful Huka Lodge on Friday 24 May 2013, a fabulous event awaits. Included within the tariff (at no additional cost) will be a stunning five-course dinner created by Executive Chef, Michel Louws, accompanied by finest Church Road vintages.
Huka Lodge guests will be amongst the very first to savour a pre-release experience of the TOM Chardonnay 2010 and the TOM Cabernet Merlot 2009. Church Road’s senior winemaker Chris Scott will also be present at the dinner to share with guests more about just why the prestigious TOM wines represent the pinnacle of winemaking at Church Road.
Autumn-winter tariffs start at $795.00 + GST per person, per night, on a double-occupancy basis, in a riverside Jnr. Lodge Suite – includes pre-dinner drinks and canapés, gourmet five-course dinner, full country breakfast, use of all Lodge facilities and return Taupo Airport transfers, if required. Limited availability exists for casual diners to attend this event at $225 per person.

Spain’s finest wines, including sherries, will be presented by Sergi Rostall, from the legendary merchants González Byass, complementing a five-course dinner showcasing contemporary Spanish-influenced cuisine by Guest Chef, Brent Savage.
Brent is co-founder and co-owner of Sydney’s fêted Bentley Restaurant & Bar in Surrey Hills. The Bentley has consistently featured in the top 20 of Gourmet Traveller’s Top 100 Australian Restaurants, with two Chef Hats and a coveted Wine Glass status from the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide. The wines that Sergi has selected to match Brent’s dishes promise to be more than equal to the occasion – so make your reservation soon.

WINEMAKER’S DINNER WITH GIBBSTON VALLEY

Founded by pioneer winemaker Alan Brady, Gibbston Valley Wines planted it first grapes in Central Otago in the 1980s. With over 30 years and numerous awards as testament to Alan’s vision, Gibbston Valley wines have taken their place alongside New Zealand’s finest vintages.
This Huka Lodge dinner provides a unique opportunity for wine lovers and afficionados to enjoy spending time with Christopher Keys leader of the winemaking team who have created these fine Gibbston Valley wines. Presented to accompany a superb five-course dinner by Executive Chef, Michel Louws and designed especially to enhance the experience even more!

DINNER WITH YOUR OWN PERSONAL CHEF – BEVAN SMITH

For a party of eight guests, staying for two-nights at the exclusive Owner’s Cottage, we have arranged for one of New Zealand’s top chefs to present a superb five-course menu for your pleasure while sharing many of his culinary secrets at the same time.
Bevan Smith is owner and chef of the South Island’s beloved Riverstone Kitchen, named as Supreme Winner in the Cuisine magazine New Zealand Restaurant of the Year in 2010. In 2011, Riverstone Kitchen was joint winner within their class in the same awards. Bevan is passionate about using only the freshest, local and seasonal ingredients and this simple yet focused approach has resulted in his distinctive style of delicious cuisine. Executive Chef, Michel Louws, will be your private chef for the other night of your stay.

CHAMPAGNE BOLLINGER DINNER

This annual event celebrates one of France’s finest Champagne houses, Bollinger, and brings you the fabulous cuisine of Daniel Wilson who is head chef and owner of one of trendy Fitzroy’s most exciting culinary hot spots – Huxtable.
After training under chefs like Daniel Boulud in New York City, Daniel moved to Melbourne to work with Andrew Blake at Blake’s Cafeteria, and in 2003 his reputation was enhanced when he was awarded The Age Good Food Guide Young Chef of the Year title.
This splendid collaboration certainly promises a memorable evening for those who journey to Huka Lodge especially for this gala event.
