Scenic Lake Taupo cruise and boat fishing
At 616-square kilometres, it is the land mass equivalent of Singapore. The lake’s attractive pumice sand beaches give it the appearance of an inland ocean and it offers excellent all year round scenic lake cruises and fishing experiences. Most fishing on the lake takes the form of trolling using either lures or flies, with the catch averaging around four pounds.

The abundance of wild trout in the mighty Tongariro River is incomparable. The wilderness section of the upper river, with its cold, clear natural pools and runs, provides from the 01 December to 31 May, angling isolation, as well as large numbers of quality fighting fish. Raft-fishing trips can be made to suit every angler’s specific needs. Experienced guides are available to help locate and net your first fat Taupo Rainbow.
Remote wilderness fly fishing
Summer in Taupo is the dry fly fisherman’s Mecca. The tributary streams will still produce smaller fish to a well presented dry fly but most often the action is in the hills to the east of Lake Taupo. The helicopter has opened up the rivers of the Kaweka, Kaimanawa and Urewera Ranges to the fly fisherman and you can now access the Ngaruroro, Upper Mohaka, Rangitikei, Wanganui, and Waiau. The trophy-size Rainbow and Brown trout can be sighted in the crystal clear streams, challenging your skills with either a dry-fly, nymph or light spinning tackle. Our experienced guides will provide you with the local knowledge for the angling experience of a lifetime. ‘Catch and release’ is the practice, however there are always great photo opportunities.
A full-day trip of 8 hours, inclusive of return helicopter transfers, fishing guide, all fishing equipment, picnic lunches, licences and any private landing fees applicable.
