Huka Lodge Festive Season Programme 2014/15

Always seeking new ways to enhance our guests' experience and enjoyment during their stay with us, has encouraged the Huka Lodge team to create some additional activities (and a few surprises too) for the forthcoming Festive Season programme. 

Festive Season Surcharge

A surcharge of NZ$400 + GST per person, per night will apply for each of these four special days. 24 December 2014 (Christmas Eve), 26 December 2014 (Boxing Day), 31 December 2014 (New Year's Eve) and 01 January 2015 (New Year's Day).

santas24 December 2014 – Christmas Eve

7.00pm: Guests gather in the main Lodge Room with the Christmas tree twinkling with fairy lights and covered with heirloom tree decorations, for pre-dinner drinks and canapés. 

8.00pm: A five-course gourmet dinner, with finest seasonal ingredients is served, with fine wines selected to complement each course.

Followed by a New Zealand cheese selection and petit fours served in the Lodge Room.

After dinner: guests retire to their rooms which have been turned down in readiness for their arrival, to find a beautifully wrapped Christmas gift has been left for them.

nut_baskets25 December 2014 – Christmas Day

From 7.00am: Guests breakfast at leisure, ham-off-the-bone is carved at breakfast, fresh summer berries and seasonal delicacies are served. 

10.00am: Guests depart on their private boat for a cruise, with trout fishing, on Lake Taupo.

12.30pm: Christmas lunch – relaxed barbecue style on the front terrace, with a fabulous selection of fresh salads, barbecued meats and poultry, artisan breads and light desserts – accompanied by carefully selected fine wines. 

1.30pm: A kapa haka performance by a Maori cultural group from the local Ngati Tuwharetoa tribe (45 minutes – 1 hour).

7.00pm: Pre-dinner drinks and canapés in the Lodge Room.

8.00pm: Christmas Dinner – five-courses created especially by Executive Chef Paul Froggatt to celebrate the finest summer ingredients as well as traditional favourites.

Followed by a New Zealand cheese selection and petit fours served in the Lodge Room.

desert226 December 2014 – Boxing Day

Breakfast at leisure.

12.30pm: Casual lunch on the front terrace, accompanied by wine. 

1.30pm: Huka Lodge sommelier will conduct a fine wine tasting for those guests who would like to participate. 

Three fishing guides will also be on hand to give fly-casting lessons on the front lawn for guests who would like to perfect their technique. 

piper231 December 2014 – New Year’s Eve

From 7.00am: Full country breakfast is available.

Guests have the day for their own leisure, with planned activities starting in the evening. 

7.00pm: Guests gather in the Lodge Room for pre-dinner drinks and canapés.

8.00pm: A gala New Year’s Eve dinner will be served at a leisurely pace, complemented by wines chosen especially to enhance the superb cuisine.

Entertainment is provided by a ‘table magician’. This Gold Star Member of The Inner Circle of London presents a performance that our guests just love. A group of musicians also provide live music during dinner. 

Midnight: The corks pop as French Champagne is poured, our favourite Scottish bagpipe player bursts into ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and a fantastic fireworks display fills the night sky. 

The live music takes the stage as couples take to the floor and dance in the New Year. 

Champagne_flutes01 January 2015 – New Year’s Day

From 7.00am: Full country breakfast is available.

10.00am: Guests can take a gentle 3km guided river walk – taking in a geo-thermal park, the amazing power of Huka Falls and the beauty of the Waikato River.

12.30pm: A delicious gourmet lunch will be served, with accompanying wines on the Front Terrace at Huka Lodge.

From 1.30pm: The Huka Lodge sommelier will present a fine wine tasting for those guests who would like to participate. 

7.00pm: Guests gather in the main Lodge Room for pre-dinner drinks and canapés.

From 8.00pm: A wonderful five-course dinner featuring finest New Zealand produce, and showcasing the talents of the Huka Lodge culinary team will be served.
