Huka Lodge voted No.1 in the world by leading Swiss business magazine Bilanz

New Zealand’s original luxury retreat, Huka Lodge, has been voted as Number One in the World’s Top 100 Holiday Hotels by the highly respected Swiss business magazine, Bilanz.

The Bilanz hotel-rating is the most comprehensive hotel comparison in Europe, assessed on a wide-ranging questionnaire of 120 leading Swiss hoteliers and 85 travel professionals, the actual valuations of internationally significant travel publications as well as over 400 own hotel tests.

The magazine said that the selection of Huka Lodge represents a trend towards independent hotels with strong individual character and an understated approach to ultra luxury, offering a ‘home away from home’ that is sensitive to its local culture and environment. Since it was first established as a fishing camp in 1924, Huka Lodge has welcomed Royals, celebrities and discerning travellers in search of privacy, timeless style and beautiful interiors, an unrivalled setting on the banks of the Waikato River, complemented by its legendary, low-key service.

Huka Lodge is sister property to the recently re-launched Dolphin Island (a private island for up to eight guests in Fiji), and Grande Provence, a heritage wine estate in Franschhoek, South Africa. All three properties comprise The Huka Retreats and are the vision of their founder, Alex van Heeren, who has a passionate commitment to providing extraordinary hospitality experiences.
