Huka Lodge wins Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Award

Huka Lodge, New Zealand’s original luxury lodge, has been recognized in the 2013 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards as the Favourite Overseas Holiday Hotel in Australasia and the Pacific.

Presented at an awards ceremony held last night at the British Museum by this respected Condé Nast publication, which prides itself on “Truth in Travel”, the award was voted for by its huge global readership – all passionate about travel and beautiful hotels.

Owner of The Huka Retreats, Alex van Heeren, said “This award is a great honour for Huka Lodge, given that Condé Nast Traveller is one the world’s most respected travel titles.”

Since it was first established as a fishing camp in 1924, Huka Lodge has welcomed Royals, celebrities and discerning travellers in search of privacy, timeless style, beautiful interiors, gourmet cuisine and an unrivalled setting on the banks of the Waikato River – all complemented by its legendary, low-key service.

The announcement follows the appointment of British chef Paul Froggatt to the role of Executive Chef at Huka Lodge and the recent launch of Worlds Apart, a book containing a stunning pictorial journey of The Huka Retreats, comprising: Huka Lodge and sister properties Dolphin Island, a private island in Fiji for the exclusive use of four couples, and Grande Provence, a heritage wine estate in Franschhoek, South Africa.
