Horse riding or four-wheel drive farm experience
Join Karen and Wally Niederer at Harakeke, a 10-minute drive from the Lodge. Harakeke is a 2300-acre working dairy, sheep and horse farm and provides an excellent taste of rural New Zealand. It is encompassed by lush native trees and bush, inhabited by a variety of birds, deer and wild turkey. Blessed with panoramic views of the volcanoes and lake, this farm experience is not to be missed.
A helicopter is available for your use, should you wish to enjoy a scenic flight before or after your equestrian experience. Choose a one-hour or thirty-minute scenic flight over the Tongariro National Park, or the geothermal area of Taupo.

Horse riding
The horses are all well schooled, ex-competition mounts and suit all levels of experience. You will explore both farm and bush country while on the property.
All equipment – helmets, boots, and caps are supplied and Harakeke caters to both English and Western riding styles. Ponies are also available for the young aspiring riders.
Guided trek for two or more riders

• NZ$392.00 for 3 hours.

Taupo Quad adventures
Take an exciting 4 x 4 bike ride through farmland and scenic native bush on a farm 20 minutes from Taupo. There are a variety of trips ranging from 1-3 hours, catering for both young and old with full training given. Helmets, gloves and wet weather gear will be provided. Transfers to and from farm included.
Four-wheel drive farm experience
Join Harakeke owner Wally on an informative tour of New Zealand farming techniques, see a working dairy, beef and sheep farm and enjoy views of native bush, unique wildlife, wild turkeys, ducks, quail and deer from your four-wheel drive vehicle.
